Future in Canada
For her family who live in Canada, Ikbale is thankful for the freedoms they each have. She wants her family to be happy and healthy now and in the years to come. She hopes her granddaughters will one day be able to attend university and get good jobs here in Canada.
Ikbale’s dream is to one day take her granddaughters back with her to visit Albania. Her oldest granddaughter, who was born in Albania, has a few very faded memories of growing up in the “homeland”. The second younger granddaughter, who was born in Canada, has never seen Albania or the city of Tirana and its surrounding mountains or the Adriatic Sea that Ikbale grew up with. She would like to share these memories with them.
There is a strength of spirit that can be seen in the women of Ikbale's family.
