Pat loves to volunteer and help others. She participates in the community and volunteers in many ways in order to make a difference. Pat carrying Malaysian flag at Commonwealth Games Ceremony in Victoria, BC 1994This has been and continues to be an important part of Pat’s life in Canada. Over the years, in both Ontario and in British Columbia, Pat has contributed her time and energy at places like her local church, the multicultural agency, and helped with several community programs that help others.

In 1994, Pat participated in the Canada Commonwealth Games in Victoria, BC where she proudly represented her Malaysian roots by carrying the Malaysian Flag at the opening ceremonies for the aquatic events at the Saanich Commonwealth Pool.

Pat values her friendships. She has met and worked with women from other cultures and lands who have come to start new lives in Canada. In 1975 she responded to a call to the community to help with the arrival of dozens of Vietnamese boat people who landed in Victoria. Pat and Robert offered them assistance, friendship and served as hosts. Pat welcomes these opportunities and experiences to help others adjust to a new life in Canada and to contribute to our community just as she has.
