Roshan loves to keep busy and to give of her time and energy to the community. She enjoys meeting people and helping others. Roshan is a member of the local senior’s association- a place that provides her with friendship, a place to practice her knitting and to participate in a range of social activities. Roshan even took up Tai Chi, at the request of her doctor, to maintain her health.

She proudly witnessed him take the oath as a new Canadian. Roshan noticed the need for volunteers to offer snacks and refreshments to those in attendance. Believing that hospitality should be a part of the every Canadian citizenship ceremony, Roshan asked if she could volunteer with the Citizenship Committee. Roshan was accepted as a volunteer and now after more than nine years Roshan has greeted hundreds of new Canadians and provided their families and friends with a warm smile and tasty snacks and refreshments.

Roshan also volunteers at the local immigrant agency, where she helps other senior immigrants practice their English, or is a friend who offers her experiences as an immigrant seniors who came to Canada.
